The Furisode (swinging sleeve) kimono is the most ornate style of kimono besides the wedding kimonos.
Characterized by the long, swinging sleeves and detailed patterns/prints/embroidery; this type of kimono was traditionally worn by young, unmarried Japanese woman especially at their “coming of age” celebrations at 20 years old.
Afterwards, sometimes the sleeves of the Furisode would be shortened so that the kimono could be worn for future, special events.
Here you will find our selection of Furisodes, chosen for their beautiful designs & colours - ready to be reconstructed into something stunning.
Furisodes are a great way to create a spectacular maxi frock/playsuit and/or a range of separates.
