The Tokyo Celebration

Every love story is beautiful, but ours is my favourite

Our overseas destination wedding is drawing closer & closer. We're doing a very small & intimate wedding in Ubud, Bali. Thought however it'd be nice to share the fun wedding party we threw in Tokyo.

Collectively Aron & I have spent nearly 20 years living here in Tokyo and we wanted to do something with our huge Tokyo family to celebrate our latest journey together. It was so lovely to see so many of our friends gather especially considering we only gave them a few weeks notice! teehee! Better than our engagement party - we gave everyone two days notice! ^_~

It was a beautiful evening, filled with bubbles, laughter, mischief and so much music! We held our celebrations at the beautifully minimalistic Ruby Jack's in Roppongi Itchome. With their large and pretty outdoor terrace, surrounded by sakura trees (unfortunately not in bloom) - it was the perfect space to hold our little wedding party.

My two closest girlfriends in Japan wore my own Tokyo Kaleidoscope frocks made to their measurements. I decided to go with shades of white/creams for my Tokyo girls because I discovered this fabulous golden beaded sheath when I was last in London and really wanted to wear it as one of my wedding outfits.

Made in the 1920s - I discovered it in a vintage shop in Brick Lane in Shoreditch for the fabulous price of 54 POUNDS!! Little did I realise that it was actually 50% off on top of it - so I got it for such a steal! No alteration was needed - it fit me perfectly (though I did remove the bra inserts it had) and restored a lot of the missing beading.

Though we had a ceremony and my friend officiated, the evening itself was very laidback and chill with only Aron giving a short speech.

We had no professional photographers (they will be for our overseas wedding) however my very talented friend, fashion photographer & videographer: Fabian Parkes (the lovely gentleman who also shot my "Thousand Crane Frock, walking on water") created for us this absolutely beautiful wedding video below.

The best part of life’s journey, is who you get to share it with...
