Before our destination wedding in Ubud - we flew into Bali about a week early to relax and have some quality time & mischief with our loved ones from around the world who were also able to join early.
We stayed at the delightful SIMBA VILLAS SEMINYAK situated in the very centre of the Oberoi area in Seminyak. Easy walking distance to the main eating & shopping area - it was delightfully quick to get to everywhere we wanted and a quick cab ride to places like Potato Head & Kudeta.
*NB: VILLA 5 can also be split into a 2BR HALVA and 3BR NOUGAT
Most of the photos are from VILLA 5 (Halva & Nougat) where I was staying - it was glorious to have two private pools, delightful ensuite bathrooms and just surrounded by lush greenness
It was my first time back in Bali in over 6 years, so a lot had changed (Potato Head didn't exist then!) but the first thing first was of course to get my favourite Indonesian food ... Nasi Goreng! Which we just went to a local cafe - which was fun & sweet, easy food & we discovered some amazing home made ginger sweets there which we brought back to Tokyo!
Then it was time to hit up all the typical Seminyak hot spots, The Junction, Potato Head, Kudeta, Bambu, Chandi, Mexicola, Bambu, La Favela to name a few and of course to get some massages at Spring Spa!
After a few cheeky drinks at Potato Head to see the sunset, we headed to Chandi for a fabulous Chef Tasting Menu which was amazing! Friends who had eaten there normally and had thought the restaurant was nice but not great were blown away by the Tasting Menu.
The next night was followed by the mischief of our Hen's & Stag's Do - where unfortunately there are not that many photos to showcase the delicious food or the fun atmosphere I was - was too busy having a blast to take photos! teehee but we went to Bambu for dinner, Mexicola for drinks & La Favela for some dancing!
On one of our nights, we were lucky to be gifted a delightful wedding gift from a friend who booked us a dinner at Kudeta's, fine dining restaurant MEJEKAWI. A lovely evening to have the Chef explain dishes for us, and create a delicious 12 course surprise tasting menu.
and of course a trip to Seminyak would not be complete without some pampering at the beautiful Spring Spa in Seminyak Village.
With four nights in Semiyak, it was just enough time to have a wee drive down to Canggu & visit the new Finn's Beach Club. I really enjoyed the vibe there, I found it to be much more laidback & chill than Potato Head or Kudeta. The afternoon was spent drinking a lot of sparkling, munching on some nachos and other bits & bobs! It's also a lovely place to see a gorgeous Bali sunset.
Countless beautiful sunsets in Seminyak and many more to come in my upcoming posts as we travel a bit more around Bali!
